The problem I have with 2001 is that the pace is so friggin' ridiculously slow. I actually think the story of HAL is interesting, and his dialogue is iconic for a reason. But the movie just drags and drags and drags.

Good lord I hate that game. With expansions, there are a zillion different rules in play that make it really hard to keep track of. And if you're really trying to be good at the game, you have to study everyone else's cards and try to predict their moves. That's information overload to me, and I don't have the patience to try to learn every card combo in the game.

I never understood the thing about this being old news. I never watch CNN, but I was aware of who Anderson Cooper was, and at least from what I've seen of him I always thought he was cool. So yeah, him being gay is news to me. Doesn't affect my opinion of him, though.

I've seen it, and while I can respect the film for what it did for the motion picture industry, it was just kind of a drag for me. Same feelings I have for 2001: A Space Odyssey.

I'll admit, there are some real Brony freaks out there. But I've also met my fair share of Bronies who are actually normal, perfectly friendly people. John de Lancie is making the Brony documentary because he's been a part of the Trek fandom, and understands that there are a lot of similarities between the fandoms, and that just because you're passionate about something doesn't mean you're a freak.

The problem I have with the graphics is that Final Fantasy X has better graphics, and that game's 10 years old. After playing modern games for a while, going to Xenoblade is just difficult. Good art direction, bad graphics.

I played twelve-ish hours and didn't feel the need to play any more. Combat is repetitive, and while the story was alright, the bad graphics made me feel like I'd rather be watching a TV show.

The amount of TV I ingest has gone up dramatically since dropping cable and getting Netflix.

I feel like the combat in Xenoblade gets repetitive. I'm using pretty much the same strategy on every enemy. It's still a step up from hitting "attack" over and over, but it's still not engaging enough for me.

I've been pretty disappointed by the games released this year. So far Trials Evolution and FEZ are my GOTY frontrunners. I was hoping Xenoblade would turn out to be the next Persona for me, but I eventually lost interest in it.

Not to mention, everything I want to play is being pushed to 2013. Assassin's Creed III, Borderlands 2, don't let me down.

Honestly, I REALLY recommend people grab Driver: San Francisco. It was honestly in my top five games of 2011. And I didn't even play any of the other games in the series.

Watching competitions of any sort is only interesting if I'm personally invested in one side, like a close friend or something.

I never quite got the sports mentality of "you live in the same town so you should root for them".

I watched the first season, found it boring and angsty, and couldn't get past the first two episodes of season 2.

I kinda agree with everyone else that he's overpowered and flawless, which makes him boring as a character. However, I do find his enemy Lex Luthor to be incredible interesting. Superman's all-powerful, but his greatest foe is one he can't just punch in the face. A political enemy is much more interesting than another superpowered villain.

To be fair, there hasn't been a lot released lately to excite people. I was hyped for Xenoblade, but I've had far more fun playing Trials Evolution.

Depends on the game. I loved 100%-ing games like the Super Mario Galaxies, Super Meat Boy, etc, because every little bit of completion is a challenge in itself. But collecting all the random crap everywhere in Assassin's Creed is so friggin' boring and nets you nothing but an achievement.

Personally, I can't think of a single image I would want on my body for the rest of my life. People change. Attitudes change. What I like now I could be indifferent to in ten years.

While the idea of a tattoo is not inherently wrong (especially for personal or symbolic reasons), I've found that the people most likely to get them are also more likely to be idiots.

Pinkie works best as a side character, but she will always be my favorite. I love her tendency to steal scenes, and even entire episodes (Last Roundup was about Applejack? I was too busy focused on Pinkie to care).

I've seen those, and I FAR prefer David's post-e3 arguments about how he doesn't like the direction the industry is going (and I think a few months ago someone wrote a counter-argument saying the industry is fine), as well as Cheese's observations about how he plays games as opposed to the way his kids do. It spurs discussion, which is far more interesting to me than "look at this weird thing we found on youtube!".

You said in the last topic that research is about 80% of the process. If that's true, then why are new writers even needed if they spend most of their time just finding sources? I've played a ton of video games throughout my life, but while I have tons of opinions on the state of the industry, how it should and shouldn't be changed, etc, there's not a whole lot that would fit into the fact-based list forms that Cracked is forcing new writers to adhere to.

Rockstar has a history lately of releasing games, they get top-tier reviews, only for me to play them and find out they're good, but not great (see: GTAIV, RDR, LA Noire).
